Found Paintings:
This is a series of ‘Found paintings’ which are washed-up, discarded objects without a current purpose. These objects were found on the Headland, close to Steetley Pier as well as the North Gare beach close to Hartlepool.
This term ‘Found Paintings’ is a notion I have derived from studying these pieces, and comparing them to the aesthetic qualities of Clement Greenberg's ideals of a modernist painting.
I have achieved this level of comparison by studying their shape, surface, layers of applicated paint and texture in order to forward a visual interpretation, and a comparable sensibility ready for my own practice.
